Children are fascinated by stones. They are part of their natural environment and are intrinsically interesting to touch, look at, hold and manipulate.  In this game they choose a favourite stone but also handle others.  The game requires concentration. Passing from one hand to the other engages both sides of the brain, and using the non-dominant hand increases co-ordination.
