Young children learn about the many different parts to their faces.  They experience the pleasure of a surprise ending the first time through and anticipate it in the repeats. This reinforces their listening habit.  They are also experiencing a kinetic response to the auditory stimulus for the changes in tempo and rhythm, thus having two important aspects the musical material internalised as well as heard.
