Although the quick rhythm is quite difficult to play, the children will know the tune very well and hopefully that confidence will spur them on.  Their imaginations will be focused on playing the game and that may add energy to the activity.

This weekly contact with the set of 8 chime bars will eventually develop a consciousness of pitch differences and the corresponding colours, names numerals and sizes. We are content with small gains in perception over time and do not expect that children will accurately play the song. We are also developing the audience convention of quietl ylistening to another person.
